ACTS 2025 Installation_Mobile - Lunar Lanterns

Lunar Lanterns

JAN. 25 – FEB. 16, 2025
VARLEY ART GALLERY OF MARKHAM

Lanterns are a major tradition of Asian festivals. Their warm glow lights up the last of winter, allowing us to look forward to a new year of bright things. Our Lunar Lanterns bridges this tradition with the local communities here in the Greater Toronto Area. Collaborating with artists of diverse backgrounds this year, the artworks each tell a unique story.

Lighting up the Year of the Snake, the Lunar Lanterns present six artists with unique stories. Featuring artists of different cultural backgrounds, each piece reflects a connection with the snake and this year’s theme: Fluidity in Diversity. In 2025, we’re letting go of the old and discovering the new—may these artworks spark your imagination to look beyond first impressions!
