Lunar Lanterns

FEB. 21 – MAR. 20, 2026
VARLEY ART GALLERY OF MARKHAM

In these uncertain times, as the turbulent winds wear us down, we draw inspiration from the Horse. Their graceful legs continue to stride forwards, tossing their glossy manes as if to challenge the world. In a herd, they gallop together as one, forwards into a brighter future together.

This year’s Lunar Lanterns features stories from diverse cultures, including an Iranian-Canadian artist, an Indigenous artist, a Korean-born artist, and more. With the warmth of their bold colours and the trust in the act of sharing, we welcome everyone to join us in pooling our courage together—and let’s Brave the Wind.
